Workers on an oil refinery

ACE HISTORY IN THE HEART
OF OIL & GAS COUNTRY

When Ace Industries acquired Gaffey Cranes in 2012, we were already experienced working in the petrochemical sector. Gaffey was founded and prospered in the heart of oil and gas country Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana. Ace continues to grow in those regions along the Louisiana coast and Texas Gulf Coast, Houma, New Iberia, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Beaumont, Baytown, Houston, Galveston and others. There are many ways Ace Industries serves the Petrochemical industry.

Ace manufactures custom equipment such as the larger, higher capacity cranes used in upstream fabrication activities for building oil rigs. The intrinsically safe equipment is Class One, Division One, Class One, Division Two equipment, working around hazardous, flammable or explosive materials, so all controls and components are spark resistant and explosion-proof, completely closed off and captured, to eliminate any risk of the electrical wiring sparking something flammable. Ace is also a manufacturer for downstream activities such as refining and provides oil and gas and LNG (liquid natural gas) support organizations with the cranes, hoists, winches, and other lifting products supplied through our distribution channels needed for their work.

Ace has also provided maintenance, inspections, and load tests for turnarounds or shutdowns for Class One, Division Two types of cranes used in LNG compressor stations. In addition, if you need crane support during planned maintenance outages or known issues on a crane that need repairing, Ace can provide stand-by services staffed by qualified technicians. Ace supplies workstations or smaller overhead cranes to aid in the pipeline pigging procedure and handle the large bits used in drilling, exploration, and maintaining on and offshore wells.

THE ACE ENGINEERING ADVANTAGE

Ace’s in-house engineering department is experienced in designing custom material handling equipment to accommodate a working space filled with other existing machinery and equipment that often operates in very confined spaces. For example, overhead cranes are used in pipeline skid or module fabrication facilities. The crane, welders, pipe vendors, beveling equipment, and everything needed to weld, connect, and fit the complicated piping systems inside a steel frame. Cranes are then used to load these modules onto trucks, barges, or trains for shipping to the refinery to connect with other modules. To accommodate the vertical nature of the modules and lack of mobility of the parts, deck-mounted hoists or hoists on monorails or hoists on jib cranes are used to remove or replace valves, motors, and sections of pipe in modules filled with harsh materials running through them.
